ITALY • Claudio Lombardi, founder of Lombardi Converting Machinery, has been prized with the “Pollicione d’Oro” (Gold Big Thumb) for his advanced research and results in the field of label and and converting printing machines.
Claudio Lombardi began his activity producing labeling and tag cutters which have been installed around the world. Later, his company began to design and produce flexo narrow web machines.
For over a decade, supported by her three sons: Lorenzo (Sales Director), Massimo (Sales Director) and Nicola (Marketing Manager) in the company’s management, Claudio Lombardi looks to the future by investing in R&D in the field of electronics and software applied to the flexo printing.
The award is awarded once a year by a jury composed of entrepreneurs, lecturers and journalists, Lombardi’s ability to design updated narrow web flexo machines to meet the growing demands of the converting world. Twenty-five years ago the award has been instituted in order to encourage research in the printing industry and to be an example for graphic design school students.
