Calvin Frost has been selected as the 2015 William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award recipient

USA • Calvin Frost has been selected as the 2015 William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award recipient. He is highly regarded as one of the most distinguished proponents for the use of environmentally conscious practices in the global label and tag industry. He will be formally presented with an engraved plaque at Printing Industries of America’s Spring Administrative Meetings in Chandler, AZ on June 11.

Calvin’s path to receiving this award began in 1978 when he created the paper-recycling firm, Channeled Resources. Over the past three decades, Channeled Resources has transformed into a global firm offering repurposing solutions for both manufacturers and consumers of coated, treated, and laminated papers and films – formerly deemed “unrecyclable.” Throughout his career, he has been a vocal advocate for the implementation and retention of good environmental practices within the industry. Through his work, he was unanimously recognized as Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute’s (TLMI) Supplier of the Year in 2010. He was awarded the R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, which recognized his global contribution to improving and changing environmental and sustainability issues in the tag and label industry. Calvin has also chaired numerous committees and taskforces within TLMI and FINAT.

Established in 1990, the William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award is named for environmental pioneer and researcher Dr. William D. Schaeffer (1922–2003), who is celebrated for his contributions to environmental issues facing the graphic communications industry. Nominations are judged by past Schaeffer Award recipients and industry leaders. Eligible candidates are judged on how their actions benefited the industry in key areas, including: Education, Public Relations, Continuous Improvement, Compliance Assistance, Regulatory Issue Involvement and Pioneering Efforts.
