From 10 to 12 May 2018 Bangkok will be the venue for the first Label-expo trade show in Southeast Asia. Tarsus, the organizer of the Labelexpo Global Series, invites everyone to the first Labelexpo Southeast Asia. Focussed on the region’s fast growing market, the trade show is set to complement the Labelexpo Asia show, which takes place every two years, alternating with Labelexpo India.

More than 200 exhibitors are expected to participate in the inaugural event. By displaying the latest label and packaging solutions, visitors will be able to see new products and technologies relating to label and package printing and converting. Delegations will probably attend from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and across the wider geographic region including Japan, South Korea, Australasia and Taiwan.
When looking at the list of exhibitors it is obvious that the Southeast Asia Labelexpo event is also very interesting for European and US-based companies. In addition to the numerous Asia-based companies, the list features the major label and package press manufacturers which will include e.g. Bobst, Edale, Konica Minolta, Mark Andy, Nilpeter and Omet. In addition, the digital printing industry will be present including HP, Konica Minolta and Xeikon.
Who will exhibit?
It is interesting to note that some major manufacturers will not be present including Durst and Gallus, who are both organising open house events this year – Durst with its Digital Days in February and Gallus with its Innovation Days in June 2018.
Also companies involved in the periphery areas of the label business who are mostly based in Europe or the U.S will be exhibiting including Berhalter, Erhardt+Leimer, Flexo Wash, IST Metz, Martin Automatic, Phoseon Technologies, Pulse Roll Label Products, SEI Laser, Troika Systems, UPM Raflatac and Zeller+Gmelin. If a company is represented overseas they will exhibit, for sure such as BST eltromat South East Asia, Epson Singapore, HP PPS Singapore, Konica Minolta Singapore or Kurz Thailand.
However, the majority of the exhibitors to Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2018 will be from all over Asia including Bitek Technology, Dragon Foils, Graphtec Corporation, Hi-Tachi High-Technologies, K. Laser Technology, Orthotec, Toyo Ink and Univacco plus several more.

“Feature Arena”
In addition to new product launches and demonstrations, the trade show in Bangkok will also include an educational and topical conference programme. This will cover the latest trends, printing techniques and technologies focusing on fast-growing areas of the label industry. The features of the label show include:
- A shrink sleeve technology workshop
- A die-cutting and tooling workshop
- A two-day conference program with panel discussions and presentations
- An AWA Southeast Asian Release Liner & Converting Industry Seminar 2018
The AWA South East Asian Release Liner & Converting Industry Seminar will be held on the day before the beginning of the trade show, on 9 May. This seminar will give participants the chance to update their knowledge on the release liner and application markets, from a global and local perspective including trends for paper and filmic release liner, silicones and release liner production.
Summing up
In comparison to the latest Labelexpo Asia, which took place in December 2017 in Shanghai, PRC and was the eighth edition, Labelexpo Southeast Asia has currently around 120 exhibitors[1]. Labelexpo Asia 2017 welcomed around 300 exhibiting companies and about 20,000 participants in comparison to the 2016’ India edition which comprised of about 200 exhibitors and 8000 visitors.
As the editor of a magazine which visits and talks to a wide range of companies within the label production sector, the Southeast Asia Labelexpo edition could be quite interesting for companies worldwide. The Chinese and Indian editions are more regional trade shows, if listen to a range of to different US-based or European suppliers.
It looks as if Tarsus, with this first Labelexpo Southeast Asia, has made a good decision also considering that the floor plan is almost completely booked. In this case, it is probable that the 2018’ Labelexpo in Bangkok will be the first of many for this area, especially considering the forecast growth rates for Asia-Pacific.
