LMAI conference 2017 in India
Harveer Sahni, NarrowWebTech editor, was given an award for a “Lifetime in support of the Indian label industry” at the latest LMAI (Label Manufacturers Association of India) conference in Agra. About 560 delegates participated at the fourth biennial conference, which took place from 20 to 23 July 2017.
The fourth LMAI conference was held at the Jaypee Palace Hotel and Convention Centre Agra, the historical city of the Taj Mahal. Welcoming the audience, Sandeep Zaveri commented that the label industry was like a big family. Referring to the conference theme “innovation simplified” he stressed the need for innovation to spread to all processes of label production. His introduction was followed by a keynote speech by Pankaj Bhardwaj, senior director and general Manager, Label and Graphic Materials South Asia, Avery Dennison.
Lisa Milburn, managing director Labels Group, Tarsus Group PLC UK then mentioned the strong partnership they have with LMAI. She also spoke about the forthcoming meeting of L9 (the federation of nine global label associations) which is scheduled to be held next year in India. Pradeep Saroha, country manager for the Labelexpo Group, discussed the upcoming event, Labelexpo Europe in Brussels in September this year in some detail.
Lifetime award
Conference chairman Kuldip Goel announced the award to Harveer Sahni of Weldon Celloplast for a “Lifetime in support of the Indian label industry”. Harveer Sahni, editor of NarrowWebTech for many years, regularly writes about the Indian label industry and reports on the most relevant events, market trends, installations and more. On being presented with his award Sahni stated: “I thank the 560 delegates for their standing ovation, I am overwhelmed!”
The following day began with Rajesh Nema, secretary LMAI, showing a video of LMAI activities during the past year. Jitesh Mehta, director of Avery Dennison, had questions for the audience about innovations in the structure of the Taj Mahal. “Innovation is a team sport and aids profitable implementation of ideas, creating value across the value chain”, Mehta stated, “By making innovation complex, we are maybe killing it”.
