SOUTH AFRICA • Rotocon, a provider of consulting and service to South Africa label converters in the narrow web industry, has sold a further MPS press to Universal Labels & Packaging. Universal Labels & Packaging invests in a MPS EF 430 flexo press which is the fourth MPS line for one of the largest privately-owned label printers in South Africa.
According to MPS, its MPS EF line is a multi-substrate flexo press, especially designed for label production and flexible packaging printing on thin unsupported film or thick cartonboard. The line is set to enable operators to maximize press performance, due to its ease of operation and reliability. In addition to MPS presses, Universal Labels also purchases their flexible dies, print cylinders, and rotary dies through the consulting company Rotocon.
In 2014, Universal Labels & Packaging and Labelpak brought together two label printing companies based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Operating 16 printing presses including digital, offset and flexographic in Midrand, Universal Labels & Packaging produces self-adhesive labels, wrap-around labels, in-mould labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, sachets and tags, with a primary focus on the FMCG market.
